Miss the News and Democracy?

I miss the news: newspapers, radio, television and magazines that provided the lion's share of the information necessary to individuals and organizations willing to give analysis, energy and action to our democracies. There are still journals and Internet outlets that are trying to fill the news vacuum but they are a ways off from filling the big shoes that once did that work on a much broader scale.

That is all I have to say about Caitlyn Jenner. Perhaps I should give a shit about her but I do not. As the Clash once sang, "I'm so bored with the USA!"

I miss democracy too. Maybe it is not dead but it sure is looking like it is going to need some mighty fine doctoring to get it up out of the fucking gutter and out walking the streets again. Your democracy needs you - even upper class twits get that. The right decisions do not get made without heavy input from the street.

The prescription is pretty simple: when you elect crooks do not re-elect them. That is what democracy must do much more consistently to survive. Rewarding wickedness is no one's interest. Families, neighbours, fellow workers and complete fucking strangers need to talk more and act together more.

That is all I have to say about the next Canadian election.
