The Plan

I have always admired people who have a lot of shit. Two kinds of shit in particular. Books and records.

I became what I admired. I have a fuck of a lot of books. Never counted how many. I would guess I have about one thousand. That is a lot of books for a sawmill hand. They have been piling up so I had to get myself a new book shelf.

Soon the books will begin to pile up again. Bookshelves are like freeways. Sooner or later you have to get yourself another one because the last one you added is full up.

I have far more records than books. I like records better. Maybe because it is easier to listen to records than read books when you have been drinking. My records too have been piling up so I had to get myself some more record shelves - each shelf 13" high and 13" deep.

Soon the records will begin to pile up again just like the books and I will again have to buy another shelf or two. When those shelves are full I will retire from my life in the motherfucking sawmill and listen to rock 'n' roll music until I die.

My grandmother always insisted a man should have a plan. That's mine.

Like freeways, indeed.

Joni's song about paving paradise with parking lots applies to Dope City as much or more than any other place. Little did we know, when we first heard, sang or played along with the song, that the parking lots would have such high speed limits.

Bravo!

Nice to see a guy who has it all figured out.

I may not have it all figured out but I have it better figured out than your average Canuck season ticket sucker.
