Banks vs Credit Unions
Many of you have heard about the recent move by many consumers of financial services from fucking banks to credit unions. What many of you may not know is that credit unions are the creation of Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, a damn fine Anarchist from France a couple centuries back. He called them People's Banks. They were meant to be run with just enough of a profit for them to keep spruce and hardy. Today's credit unions have strayed from that principle some but they remain the ethical choice when it comes to a place to do your financial business with.
Fuck the banks.
Was a time I used banks. Pulled out of my last one about 30 years ago because it looked like they were supporters of Racist South Africa. Motherfuckers. The rest of them are no fucking better.
Like I said, fuck the banks.

I agree, Fuck The Banks!
But, know that virtually every Credit Union in BC that makes political contributions, makes them to the Campbell/Clark Crime Family.
From 2005 thru 2010 they have contributed $76,000 to the BC "Liberals." Can I have a WTF?!

Ray. I noticed that, so I sent an angry email to the Board at my CU, also giving them shit for being a major sponsor at GW's recent talk in Surrey.
"...Coast Capital Savings does not support one political party or view over another. However, from time to time Coast Capital Savings is invited to attend public events such as dinners that are linked to political parties. I understand that any cash contributions to the BC Liberal Party were the result of attendance at such events. Our attendance is seen as an opportunity to bring forward our views on public policy that we believe would allow Coast Capital Savings to be more effective for our members." Maybe we should all voice our disgust, they might change their minds...
Directors of credit unions are elected, at least mine are.
Kim - Your quote from Coast Capital is just about exactly the same as what my credit union uses as an excuse to shovel (my!) money on to the Liberal's campaign chuckwagon.
Yes, it's probably a stock answer. Maybe we should find out which credit unions did not donate our money to the Fibs. If any.
There are almost certainly some credit unions that have not shown their colours with Liberal donations. My old IWA credit union, which goes by a different name I can't think of now, probably has not (I'd still be a member if I had not moved away from any of their very few branches); I'd be surprised if Van City has. There used to lots of small credit unions. Cozy little institutions. I liked them best.
