Dope City's Only Free Press

I try and stay away from editorializing here at Dope City's only Free Press. If you do not have a billion plus in your bank account it seems to me that nobody gives a fuck what you have to say. Especially if what you have to say comes straight from the heart. Reminds me of a line from a Generation X's "Friday's Angels" I may have quoted in the past.

"And you don't care you know you're right."

Just the same it felt alright to write something that struck a chord with a few of you out there. It felt alright to be reminded that I am not alone when I get some information and feel like me and a whole lot of other working people are getting fucking screwed.

Just do not forget - this is the Dope City Free Press - where nothing is true and everything is permitted - except shipping all of our fucking logs overseas.

You are, of course, right. Being right is overrated.

Jon, of course, is right

After all, just think of all we would have never had if that proto-punk Jonathan Richman had not been so darned wrong.

Thanks for the Roadrunner. If I could be transported through time there is only one place I would like to be - at a junior high school dance in New England, 1971, dancing to the Modern Lovers.

Soon as I published my previous comment I thought, "Hey dum-dum, that wasn't "Roadrunner." That is how closely entwined that song and "Modern World" are in my memory. My favourite part of the song? "Drop out of B.U. Alright." It is not the words, it is the inflexion.

I have long liked all things Boston, the St. John's of America, but after the Bruins beat the fucking snot out of the Canucks, that like became love.

After I spent some time in England, in the last century, I brought home a few records, mostly by English bands. Among them were records by four American bands - lps by The Ramones, The Velvet Underground, The Modern Lovers and a 45 of "Born To Run." Guess that is why I understand why people still dream of America.
