Dirty Caulk Boot

The forest industry's cheerleading department is telling us workers and anyone else who gives a damn that the worst depression in forest products markets in many decades is over. The cheerleaders are enthusiastic, as they should be, for they have had nothing to cheer but bad news for too long. Looks like there will be more logging this summer than B.C. has seen for a few years, weather permitting.

For those few of us who have survived the lay-offs and plant and camp closures it is as if the dirty caulk boot that has been on our neck smothering us has been lifted. Perhaps we will work until we choose to retire after all. The last of the hot rod logger motherfuckers.

Somebody has to be the last working mill rat in North America and it might as well be you. It's sure not gonna be someone from California.

However, when management brings out the cheerleaders you shouldn't be more than cautiously optimistic.
