Less Rules = More Fun

In years past my blood pressure would creep dangerously upwards when the shitheads who run the National Hockey League introduced rules aimed at cutting down fighting in their rinky dink league. Sounds like the shitheads are at it again by trying to see the instigator rule is applied more often and by doubling the amount of time fighters will have to stay in the penalty box when they are done trying to cave each other's heads in if, in the opinion of referee, the main event is not entirely spontaneous.

My blood pressure stays low now because I have women's flat track roller derby. Roller derby is the medicine for the sickness of modern hockey. The only hope I have for hockey is that a new, more violent, hockey league is born to compete against the NHL. Less Rules = More Fun.

On April 11th I get to take my pills.

Fair enough.

But.....

Beer, please explain how flat trackin' is better than those slopey ones I remember from back in the days of watching the Bay Area Bombers when the scores got too lopsided in those late night, tape delay games when the Puget Sound Loggers were getting the crap beaten out of them by the Pacific Lutheran University something or others.

The difference is that today's flat track derby is real. Could be oval derby is real now too. Real enough and clean enough for me to give derby a two beers up for inclusion in the summer Olympics.

The old derby was great too though.

Flat Track Rollerderby in Vancouver - fighting centrifugal force since 2006. And yes - it's all real. Ask my physio.
