William Blake

Mick Farren, authour of Doc 40 and a great deal more, recently reminded me just how big an influence the good people of Ladbroke Grove have had on my life. Where the fuck would I be now without Hawkwind, the Pink Fairies and Motorhead?

More recently he reminded me of another, more subtle, influence: William Blake, who wrote, "The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom." Motherfuckers.

It would take a while to explain, but I might not be alive were it not for William Blake. I would certainly be a lot more unhappy.

It is the remarkably enduring influence of people like Blake that keep me, in spite of the overwhelming evidence, from giving up on what Fred Woodworth, another one of those remarkable people, describes aptly as our Situation Hopeless.

The quote from William Blake always plays in my head in the voice of Mark E. Smith. I'll get round to looking out the song someday soon.

Fine post. I like your new masthead, Beer. Nice ankles.

The photo for the masthead was taken by very own self. Slowly but surely I am getting the hang of digital machines like the camera that replaced my trusty analog one.

I'm still working on it myself. I used to use (borrow) a Canon with a 210mm zoom - which was absolutely great. The first time I picked up an auto digital 35mm I felt like the apes in the intro sequence to "2001".

Hey, how come I'm lacking in the wisdom department. Mark E. Smith and The Fall probably have plenty.

Some time ago I remember being told the wise man knows he knows nothing at all.
