Recognition

Just like everybody else who makes the effort to create something like the Dope City Free Press, I like it when somebody puts my website on their Fellow Motherfuckers sidebar or somehow or other creates an electronic link others might use to pay a visit here. More visits mean more comments, what my sister Sal says is the best part of her visits here. I like the comments too, they are like telephone calls, except when I answer the person on the other end of the line is not some motherfucker trying to bullshit me about their useless product or misleading survey.

I recently learned that Paul Willcocks has added the Dope City Free Press to his sidebar. Paul is a real working journalist. I used to read his shit all the time when his column appeared in the old Steepleton News before it went tabloid, dropped his column, and became more worthless than an empty bottle of tequila, more worthless than a sixteen year old with the vote. To say I am honoured is as understated as the first World Trade Center attack, the underground parking lot bombing that did not go as planned, expressed Muslim loon hatred of America.

From its inception, to this very day, what I write here has been inspired by Paul St. Pierre, surely British Columbia's most eminent newsman. Paul was like Hunter S. Thompson, if Thompson could have handled his whisky better. Fuck your television, fuck your radio, fuck your magazines, fuck your newspapers, this is the news, motherfuckers.

Mr. Willcocks and Mr. Beer 'N Hockey battling it out.... With Mr. St. Pierre as the wise sage/referee thrown in the middle.

Now there is political/cultural/zeitgeistian panel/cage match I'd pay to watch.

Or even read.

Gazza - Sounds like you have been missing Front Page Challenge as much as I have.

Plumber One - Nevermind the bollocks - congratulate me when the headhunters have tracked me down to write for the Victoria Times-Anarchist.

Zeitgeistian.

I like that word.

Zeitgeist - those old world motherfucking Germans sure came up with some fancy words. Roughly translated it means the cesspool we are all swimmimg in I believe. Hawkwind summed up the modern zeitgeist pretty nice in their song "Hassan I Sahba" a good long while ago. Me? I'm just glad I can swim.
