Poem For Jimi's Mom

She was a good girl from Saskatchewan.

Her favourite memory of her time there
Was the time she was kissed by Gordie Howe.
"Just a kiss on the cheek, that's all," because
She was a good girl from Saskatchewan.

Soon enough she would meet a man,
A good young man from Saskatchewan,
Who would soon kiss her on the lips and
Ask her to marry him when the crops were in.

Saskatchewan, they bid good-bye,
Through a cloud of steam and
The sound of the whistle from the engineer.
They were on their way out of the flat lands.

In B.C. her man got a job
Working for Simpson Sears
They raised two boys
With great big ears

(Just like their dad's)

Before you knew it
Their kids had kids
The good boy and girl from
Saskatchewan were rarely sad

Because they followed a simple rule:
They never went to bed
When they were mad.
That is the best advice I ever had.

I am going to miss
That good girl from Saskatchewan.
